In the year 1996, South Eastern Railway was trifurcated and two more new Railway Zones were established- East Coast Railway and South East Central Railway. East Coast Railway zone became fully operational with effect from 01.04.2003, comprising 03 divisions Waltair, Khurda Road and Sambalpur. Since then, the new zonal railway headquarter has been functioning at Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, the capital city in the state of Orissa. Initially, Chief security commissioner was head of the Railway Protection Force in East Coast Railway but on date 02.02.2018, the post was upgraded to IG/ Principal Chief Security Commissioner followed by DIG cum- CSC/ECoR, Dy.CSC/ECoR, ASC/SO to PCSC, ASC/PS and ASC/Pro.
2. Silent Features :-
Office of the IG-cum -Principal Chief Security Commissioner is situated in the premises of South Block of East Coast Railway headquarter building which is named “Rail Sadan” on Nandan Kanan road, Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. The office is situated at a distance of 08 kms from Bhubaneswar Railway station and about 09 Kms from airport. Rail Sadan is provided with very good office infrastructure and working atmosphere. Zonal control Room is working at Rail Sadan to control the working of RPF over ECoR round the clock. A Cyber Cell is also established under the office of PCSC/ECoR from 2020. There is a reserve company attached to HQ for looking after security/ Duties of HQ and Railway colonies. The zonal HQ has different wings like - IVG, CIB (Analytical) & CIB (Detective), CCS, SIB and Band Cell.
