West Central Railway is headquartered at Jabalpur and comprises of three divisions namely Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota. Jabalpur and Bhopal mainly cater to Madhya Pradesh and Kota mainly to Rajasthan. 24 numbers of districts in Madhya Pradesh, 13 of Rajasthan and 02 of Uttar Pradesh are catered by WCR.
It has total route kilometers of 2997 kms. Out of total route Km, of WCR, 2185 km (about 73%) of its route falls in the State of Madhya Pradesh, 758 km (about 25%) falls in Rajasthan and rest 54 km. comes under the jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh. There are 301 Railway station in WCR.
The Zone serves Eastern & Central Madhya Pradesh, Southern Uttar Pradesh, and North Eastern Rajasthan state. It contains Tuglakabad (TKD) locomotive shed, which belongs to Kota Division of WCR but is situated in the Northern Railways Territory. WCR shares it boundary with Northern Central Railway at Mathura, Bayana, Bharatpur, Manikpur, Bina, Gwalior, Western Railway at Nagda, Chittorgarh, Fanda, Makshi, North Western Railway at Sawai Madhopur, Central Railway at Khandwa and Itarsi, South East Central Railway at Katni and Jabalpur and East Central Railway at Singaroli stations.
The sanctioned strength of RPF in WCR is 1751. The sanctioned strength of Gazetted officers over the zone is 13. However, the post of PCSC besides 13 is on loan from other department of WCR and the post of CSC is against work charge post.
There are 25 RPF Post over WCR out of which 07 Posts belong to Kota division, 07 are in Jabalpur and 11 are in BPL division.
